"What Osceola Means To Me"

Osceola King and Queen Program 2025

Presented bt the Osceola Business Association

In partnership with Penn-Harris-Madison Schools, the Osceola King and Queen Program has been a

long time Osceola tradition at the town’s school. It begins and ends at the annual Osceola Music Festival.

Every spring, there is an essay contest for incoming 5th graders at Moran Elementary, where students

explain “What Osceola Means to Me.”  The students are then encouraged to enter their essays into the

annual Osceola King and Queen Program, along with a “Good Citizen” recommendation from a Moran

School Employee, and a signed parent/guardian permission form by the end of the school year.

The essays will be judged anonymously, by a group of retired Mishawaka School teachers.

All of the students who enter agree to participate and have portions of their essays read at the

Opening Ceremonies of the Osceola Music Festival onSaturday morning, August 9.  All entrants will be

awarded $20.00 in Festival Dollars to be spent at the Festival.

The 2025 King and Queen will be crowned by the 2024 King and Queen, receiving sashes, flowers and

plaques in the royal ceremony.  They will reign over the festival Saturday and Sunday, being introduced

and photographed for media and promotions. They will be honored at a school assembly and thanks to

our generous sponsors, the Cruz Family Funeral Home, they will also receive new bicycles.

The students will begin a year-long reign that includes being honored at an Osceola Town Council

Meeting and at the Osceola Christmas Tree Lighting.  They also ride in the Osceola Memorial Day Parade and

attend the Music Festival the following year to crown the 2026 King and Queen.
